Storm Drains
I also noticed a few nights ago that the storm drains around here are now covered with grills. Now the thing about that is I would see Raccoons climbing out of those storm drains sometimes at night. The first time I saw one about ten years back I told my neighbors and they thought I was smokin weed till they saw one climb out. What I'm wondering is what happened to all those critters living in the storm drains when they grated them over.

There were probably notices posted inside the drains, with an evacuation date.
Now that's funny
My folks had a raccoon nest on the fireplace damper a few years ago (belied by the skittering of the young'uns on the metal); the mother could get up and down the chimney by wedging against opposing walls, but the little critters were too small for that, so a thick rope had to be provided for their ascent before a grating was installed.
Are those the feisty Michigan raccoons.
